ATTENTION! Due to people who don't have the courtesy to ask if they may copy your story, instead of writing their own and taking photos without asking, this website has made private and visitors will have to obtain a password from me. I regret doing this, but someone copied my entire
website and posted it in the public trees on Ancestry.

As past visitors know, I have always helped and shared with anyone who asks. It is with great sadness that I am being forced to do this.

All photos have been removed and will be reloaded as time permits. NO PHOTOS ARE TO BE COPIED FROM
THIS SITE WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. Some of these photos have been shared by other descendants. Please
be courteous and respectful to those who have been kind enough to share their photos for viewing. Most of these photos are also still under copyright. It is illegal to use copyrighted photos without
 permission of the owner.

Thomas CHENEY descended from John CHENEY, born in 1574. His parents were William CHENEY and Ruth EASTMAN. He married Keturah OWEN. Thomas's direct line of ancestors are shown back to John CHENEY. The bulk of this website consists of the line of the descendants of Thomas and Keturah's children and primarily focuses on the line of their son, Ebenezer, my 4th great grandfather.

William CHENEY served during the Revolutionary War and was killed in the Battle of Bunker Hill.
His sons served along side of him.

His son, Thomas enlisted in the Connecticut Line. After the war, he migrated to Harrison County, Virginia, where he and Keturah reared their children. They later moved to Champaign County,
Ohio where they lived for the remainder of their lives.

Ebenezer CHENEY, a veteran of the War of 1812, married his first cousin, Elizabeth OWEN. They
were the second family to settle in Jackson Township, Union County, Ohio.

Their son, William married Rebecca LOVE.

Francis Owen CHENEY enlisted in the Ohio Infantry during the Civil War. Following the war, he
 married Martha Jane UNCAPHER.

Their son, Earl J. CHENEY married Cecil Mae COPUS. Earl and Cecil were both born in Allen County, Ohio and lived there throughout their lives. My mother is the youngest of their five children.

Because of the person who chose to download my entire website into the public stories and his tree on Ancestry, I have trimmed the above family summary, leaving out many details of my ancestors' lives. Those closely related to me and those visitors who are trustworthy and share some family history and/or photos with me, may request the full story by e-mailing me. It is a shame that some people won't do their own research and just help themselves to the work others have done without permission or sharing in return. They spoil it for the rest of us. Also, I do not have everything on here so if you need information or a picture of an ancestor whose picture is not on here, check with me. I may have what you need.

My mother's ancestry is too large to place on one website without causing mass confusion to the reader. Therefore, her family is being divided by the names of her direct lines. Websites for the CHENEY, COPUS and NEELY families are online as is the ancestry of the CARDER family that my mother married into. Websites on the HALL, MASON, and MORRIS lines are to be added. My sources
are not on the website. This is to keep the family history accurate with proper documentation. Please feel free to contact me at dcarder2@woh.rr.com for my sources, family information which is not listed on the website, and for any questions you may have.
NO PICTURES ON THIS SITE MAY BE COPIED OR USED WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF THE OWNER. MATERIAL
AND PHOTOS ON THIS WEBSITE ARE COPYRIGHTED AND PERMISSION MUST BE OBTAINED FOR USE. Names, dates,
and places are public facts and may be copied. If there is a picture that you would like a copy of,
 please contact me.

Please sign my guest book. You may leave comments or information about your CHENEY and OWEN ancestors in the guest book. Be sure to leave your e-mail address so that I may send you a reply and so that others from your line will be able to contact you.
By adding your e-mail address to the guest book and sending me an e-mail, I will have all of the
CHENEY and OWEN descendants' e-mail addresses and can contact you whenever the website is updated.
Should you find someone from your direct line and wish to contact them and no e-mail address is posted for them, then you will be able to contact me and I will contact that person for you. Some
of the e-mail addresses I have are not current. If you are not sure whether I have your current e-
mail address, please e-mail me and send your current one.
The purpose of this website is for CHENEY descendants to have a place to find each other and share and exchange our family history. My guestbook may be used as a message board and place that you can leave information about your branch of the family and any questions you have about the family and connect with each other if you wish.
Feel free to e-mail anytime with your questions, to introduce yourself, or just to say hi. I am always happy to hear from you!

     Enjoy exploring my website!
